Sad but true...

Bad news indeed...
OH NO!!!
I can see a huge jump in MSE users in the near future. :)
Thanks for the news.. I have 2 desktops which I use Avast on. I have a laptop that I installed Avira on before I discovered Avast and have been satisfied with it. I will now put Avast on my laptop as well.
Thanks again for saving me with the latest news on threats.
And to add insult to injury, apparently if you want to add Webguard to your free version (which becomes available with the soon to be released Version 10 Service Pack 2), you must agree to install the Ask Toolbar and make Ask your default search engine.
This is sooooo wrong at such a fundamental level it's nearly unbelievable. All Avira users need to hammer at Avira until they back down. If we end up unable to trust our AV makers, who will we be able to trust??????
It almost looks like competition bought out Avira, and this is how they'll eliminate them.
Thanks for the heads up.
Removed link to Avira at another site.
I waited and and when they added the Safe web search, which I did not let install, it basically caused Avira to quit working. SAD!
And looks like it maybe a mess to clean up.
MSE here I come.
EDIT: The AVIRA restart hung up in taskmanger. Stopped it and rebooted. It was gone. :D :D
