strange problem
Not sure if this is the right spot here or not but it seems like a good place to start. I have installed win7 on a Latitude e5500. Everything installs fine, mouse and keyboard work but upon restart nothing except for the recycling bin works until you go open task manager and close it - then everything works. Could this be a memory problem? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Test the RAM (random access memory):(Any failure, replace the RAM).

Download UBCD and burn it to CD, it has all the memory testing and disk diagnostic utilities on it plus many more besides. Run MemTest and Windows Memory Diagnostic, as SpywareDr suggested, and also the disk utility for your brand of hard drive (or Seatools if you aren't sure). All you have to do is to boot up with the disc in the drive, select the utility that you want to use, and it will run.
