New Video Card to Support Windows 7 64-bit?

I’ve upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 64-bit and my streaming video on You Tube and Hula is very pixelated. My current video card is an ASUS ENGTS250 with 512 MB, 256 bit and GDDR3 and DirectX 10. I also upgraded to an i7 processor. This seems to be a common problem with upgrades where the new PC’s with 7 64x run fine. I was told most likely I’ll have to get a new card with GDDR5 and DirectX 11 may solve the problem. Also, I looked for any new drivers for my current card and there are none.

I’m looking at the Galaxy 50SGH8HX3QMZ GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) GC Version 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card 0n Newegg.com at $79 with a rebate and it has 5 stars.

I would think this would solve the problem from my research. I don’t mind paying around $100.00 for a new video card that might be better. Also, I very seldom game. If anyone has a better card suggestion, I’d appreciate the info.

What driver set are you running now? This is the latest I see on the Nvidia site:

I doubt a DX11 card is the solution. Not like Youtube uses DX.

I think I've already downloaded this driver. I'll try again and see what happens.

It still does it. ESPN, etc. does fine but not as well as Vista. I'll keeping researching the forums.

What browser are you using? Try Firefox or Chrome and see if you get the same problems. Note that you will have to install the non-IE version of Flash for Flash sites.

If you're using IE, then use the 32-bit version.

It does it on IE 9 and the latest Mozilla update as well.

Did you try OLDER driver sets?

Try 258.96 and/or 260.99

You could also try the newer Beta drivers as well.

It wouldn't let me download one so I chose the other driver and it's working fine for now. However, my card is about 4 years old so I may still updgrade.

Updating to the latest and greatest video driver does that lots of times. So burn the version you downloaded and installed to a cd against future need.

I've updated the the latest driver for the GTS250...still the same problem. My current card is about 4 years old...I think a new card w/ GDDR5 and ActiveX 11 should fix the problem. This is a very commen problem with upgrades to 64-bit where I don't see any problem with new PC's and Windows 7 x64 on forums.

Did you use the older drivers like I said? As Train mentioned, newer drivers can actually cause problems.

Back down to the one that works, then burn it to a cd against future need. That is the newest driver you can use so forget trying to find a newer one as all they will do is cause problems. Learned that years ago.
