Hello
I'm hoping you can help me. I have an eMachine ET1331G-03w that is about 8 months old. Last week, when booting up from being turned off several days, the hard drive began a loud clicking and would not boot up completely. So, after doing some reading, I decided to replace the hard drive. I ordered a new one that is Identical to the one that came installed. "Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 750 GB 32 MB cache ST3750528AS.
My question is this. When I install this new hard drive, I plan on unplugging the clicking one and leaving it where it is and installing new hard drive directly under it. To get the same operating system and drivers onto the new one, can I run the Disks I made when I first bought the computer? Since the hard drive is identical size and etc, I was hoping I could. The disks I have are a 3 DVD set I burned of Factory Defaults, then I have another one I burned at the same time of System Restore, Windows 7 64 bit. This computer did not ship with a Windows 7 disk.
I have done alot of work with computers but this is my first hard drive installation. So, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I just need to know how to load Windows onto the new hard drive and get the system running once again. I am not worried at this point about things on the dead drive.
My system is
eMachine ET1331G-03w
AMD Athlon 11x2 235e Dual Core Processor
6GB DDR2 memory
Windows 7 home edition 64 bit was installed on dead drive and I did make all backup disks.
Thanks
