Hardware OK?

So, some of you know that I recently shorted two hard drives which made my powersupply reset itself.

Because I just built the computer a month ago, I want to make sure that nothing else got fried or shorted.

Is there a software or hardware to monitor that the motherboard, cpu, ram, SSD, and Graphic Card is ok and it was not effected by the surge? I know I can look at it but that is not good enough.

I think when there is an electrical surge, the component that most likely be effected is motherboard. The rest are a bit more prone.

Also, couple days ago, I got my first blue screen of death for this computer. Is that most likely to be RAM related?

If the machine runs and runs ok if left on for a few hours - odds are you're good to go. There could be a piece of soldier that partially melted but you won't find it till the device dies.

You could see the thread below for some testing software. There may be some other freeware benchmarking software that you could use also. Just running a variety of processes that exercise the hardware components is also an option - watch some videos or play some games to test the video card. Copy (lots of or large) files to test the drives.

Everything so far has been stabled since the incident except for that blue screen of death the other day.

The very occasional blue screen is nothing to worry about - unless you use ECC memory a bit will get flipped now and then. If it happens with something very critical you can get a blue screen. It is only a matter of concern if it starts happening regularly.

Unless you were using a really cheap and nasty PSU, plugging those drives in the wrong way won't have hurt anything. Decent power supplies have plenty of protection circuitry built in.
