how to avoid sending undesired emails

Hello

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to prevent my hotmail email account from sending email messages about viagra to my email contacts. I have norton updated but it seems it did not detected anything.
What should I do?

Should just changing the password work? Is there anything more that I can do to solve this?

By all means change the password if you can;)

If you look in the SENT folder do you see the mail there? If so, your account has been hacked and odds are they changed the password and now you can't.

Or the other possibility is that they now have a copy of your contacts.

The thing is that the password has not been changed and the sent emails show up in the SENT folder.
Any suggestion?

I would use a different (clean) computer to change the password, then scan your computer for malware and especially keyloggers.

The thing is that I already am using a paid norton antivirus but it has not detected anything.
What should I try then?

It looks like you did change the password???

There's a good chance the bad guys copied your contact. Nuttin you can do about that.

The password has not been changed either by me or any other one, it is still the same. Even though someone might have already got this password and stolen the contacts, Is there at least any way to stop this emails from being sent from the inside of my email account?

I could change the password from a third computer but then, Could I suffer the same problem again with some kind of nasty program reading my hotmail password? If so, is there anything I can do? Like I said, I have a paid norton antivirus but it has not found any problem. Should I format the two computer from which I access this email account to make sure that the problem does not happen again?

Not sure what part of that you don't understand. If the person with the old password logs out - they might not be able to get back in.

There is no single perfect antimalware solution. If someone installed a keylogger on your computer, who knows what other passwords they may have. To find out what malware may be there, read the sticky post in the Intensive Care forum and post the requested logs. Or, format and reinstall Windows on your computer. Note: There are hardware keylogger devices as well, but someone would need physical access to your computer to install one of those (but not to access the collected data).

Too bad you can't do anything about this thing. Just deactivate the said e-mail and tell your friends to delete your account to their list so that they won't be bothered with that spam messages.
