Problem with dvdrom and DVD auto run

My program of PowerDVD7 has worked flawlessly for many months to years.. but the past week I have run into a problem that even Cyberlink is stumped on..
When I insert a dvd movie into my dvdrom player the powerdvd7 program I have used for many many months would always just open and start the movie or play the movie where I last left off and put away.. But lately when I insert a movie dvd the program doesn't start but displays the explorer sidebar with the two yellow folders in the files .. IF I open up the yellow folders (video_TS) and can then start the process from there but this far too many steps..
Now with the movie sitting in my dvdrom tray and I click and open up the short cut key for Powerdvd7 it htne opens to the Big Red program and I then hit the play key and off it goes and plays.. but that again too many steps..
I have checked everything including using a registry fix program as well as I have rolled back my Windows XP to last week and it still does the same..

What did I turn off?????,, or better what should I click to turn back on ?
I have used No action to always use windows media player ( there is no powerdvd icon within the properties of my LG DVD player.

Have you gone into "folder options">file type tab>find Powerdvd icon in the window and click it. Then go to "play with power dvd" in the window and click it to highlight. Then ok your way out and Windows should then use power dvd as default when disk is inserted.
Another to check is: right click the dvd player icon in "my Computer" and click properties. Click the 'auto play' tab.From the dropdown menu,choose "dvd movie" In the "select an action" window click your power dvd listing. Apply and ok out and it should now play dvd when inserted...
