software amplifirer?
hi all,
is their such a thing as a software amplifier as aposed to a hardware amplifier?
I have amplified speakers(unfortunatley not with me).
I am in a remote camp and use my laptop for music and movies but its volume output leaves a lot to be desired. if anyone knows of a downloadble amplifier program I sure would apreciate hearing from you.
thanks in advance, ward.

What you could try is to see if your audio drivers, or your playback software, has a graphic equaliser and boost the volume using that. You can get a sizeable increase in volume without needing to download anything.

Winamp media player has a built in equalizer with an additional gain control that can give you and extra 12db of volume. Just be aware that boosting the signal too much may cause distortion since the output amps in laptops are pretty low voltage.
