Have windows XP on system at work but would also like to have windows 98 on it also , Is it possible to make it so I could boot into either one at startup and if so what is the procedure to do this. Not familiar with this as is never have done it before

It is possible, but you need to install the older version of Windows first, and then install XP. You can try using a 3rd party bootloader instead of installing the old OS and wiping XP, but I don't recommend it, I've seen too many problems with them over the years.
Have you considered installing Win 95 as a virtual machine? It's much easier, and Virtual PC, Virtual Box, or VMware Server are all free :)
