But there is this truth though:
"A five-year warranty does not guarantee five years without hard drive failure, it just means you get a new drive should it actually fail."

The results are somewhat skewed, because the company only gets failed hard drives, so that stats are only for those. That doesn't mean that there is no useful information in them however.
Hitachi ?!?
At one time I only used to buy IBM/Hitachi drives. Nowadays I get either Hitachi or Samsung. Touch wood I have yet to have either brand fail on me, and that article at least suggests that I have been making a wise choice :)
