I need some help with this since I have never done this nor am I sure if you can. I have a Netbook with Windows 7 Starter that has a wireless connection using my Verizon Fios router. My desktop computer has Windows XP Home. When using my Netbook I would like to be able to save files or photos to my "C" drive or my external hard drive (N Drive) on my main computer. Can this be done? If so I would need detailed information on how to do this.

Yes it can easily be done. First of all, if you click on "Network" on the Windows 7 computer, is it able to see the WinXP machine? There should be a couple of shared folders visible by default.
From what I can see, yes.
I checked on this again and no I do not see WINXP or shared folders. What would be my next step?Quote:

Go to the Command Prompt (type "cmd" without the quotes in the Start search box), then type "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (replace the x's with the IP address of the XP computer). If the pings are returned OK then it shows that a firewall is not blocking traffic, so then try "ping xp computer name". That will show whether the router is resolving the name OK.

Train and Supersparks, thanks for all of your help. I can access my main desktop computer from my Netbook and save documents etc to MY DOCUMENTS on my C drive. I also can print through the network. Hopefully I have everything set up correctly. If something comes up I will be back to ask again.

Glad to see things are sorted out.
Be sure to back up what you would hate to lose to more than just another computer.
Suggestions include but not limited too:
data DVDs
USB hdds or even another file server on your lan.
