Windows 7 Pro upgrade DVD issue?
Hello all,
I just built a new system and I am having issues installing a genuine copy of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit upgrade DVD.
mobo: ASUS P7P55D (bios 1307)
cpu: core i5 750
ram: 4GB Corsair DDR3-1600 CAS 8
gpu: XFX ATi 5770
dvd: LITEON iHAS-424
psu: PC P&C Silencer 610W
ssd: Intel X25-M 80GB G2 (clean)
case: Cooler Master Centurion
I put the boot order to cd drive only. After POST, the upgrade DVD starts to spin up and then stops and the following message comes up:
"Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"
I then put in my Windows XP Professional SP2 32-bit CD Full Version into the drive and it booted and installed like normal. I have the XP build now updated just to SP3. I looked on Microsoft's website and I found how to upgrade from XP to 7. While XP is running, I put my win7 disc in and tried to run the setup.exe file. I get an error message stating: "D:\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application". I believe I understand this message because my win7 disc is 64-bit and XP is 32-bit.
Has anyone come across this issue? Please help!
