[RESOLVED] PSU

Hello folks, I have a couple of spare psu's laying about. I want to convert one to a 12 volt power supply to charge R/C batterys. I have a new battery charger I bought to do this but it needs a 12v power source. I have a 350W antec psu rated at 20 amps. The psu works when I plug it into a main board and the 12v rail is fine. what I need to know is how to jumper the connector so I can use it as i get no voltage readings when its notplugged into a mainboard. thanks

Be aware that switch-mode power supplies must have a load connected to them, if you run it without a load for any length of time you stand a good chance of burning it out. And you need a load on the 12v, 5v and 3.3v rails.

Thanks for the replies folks, I ordered a 30 amp dc power supply from tower hobbies. I needed it to run the charger i have for the battery packs in my r/c airplanes. Its better this way as its all plug and play no worries about trying to modify a computer psu. thanks

That's probably the safest option.
