connection issues
luckily, i seem to be the person that gets to play with all of my families broken computers.
got this laptop from a niece, apparently she claims she was on myspace and accidently clicked on an add. then the computer went crazy saying "you are infected" everywhere. she claims she restored her computer to a date prior to being infected.
well ive looked over her machine, looked thru the tsr's, looked thru some hijack logs and ran some spyware and malware programs. it doesnt seem that she is infected.
but ...
what is strange is i cannot get this machine to connect to the internet. when i connect to my router (wirelessly) she gets a connection but it says "Access: Local only". ive tried all my normal tools (cmd->ipconfig) but nothing seems to work. strangely, she has like 29 connections, 24 or so which say 'tunnel adapter local area connection* (the number).
i noticed that her default gateway was blank so i added my routers gateway, but that didnt do anything.
i disabled ipv6, but that didnt do anything.
in device manager under network adapters ... there is a 6TO4 Adapter that has a yellow arrow. i tried uninstalling it but it keeps comming back.
when i queried the adapters i see:
wireless network connection
local area connection
and ? loopback pseudeo-interface 1
what would you try next?
thanks in advance!!
laptop is a toshiba-satellite L305D-S5934
