Open it in Microsoft word, should do the trick.
frebo--I assume you are trying to open the file in Wordpad. What happens when you try?
Or if your screenshot is the answer and nothing happens, it would seem Wordpad is not able to open the file. However what is the file extension of the file ? Is it a text file? Can you open it in any other program? If so, do so, copy it and paste it into Wordpad.
Microsoft Office "Word" and the "WordPad" that comes with Windows are two different animals.

WordPad is a basic word processor that is included with almost all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 upwards. It is more advanced than Notepad but simpler than Microsoft Works Word Processor and Microsoft Word. It replaced Microsoft Write which came with all previous versions of Windows (version 3.1 and earlier).

She'll probably lose some formatting. The basic contents should still be there though, as long as there are no embedded graphics..
Sparks--Not if it's a format Wordpad can't read at all. Might be HTML.
Right-click on the file in its current location, click "Open with," and scroll down to "Microsoft Word."
That Wordpad looks nothing like my scrawny app, which doesn't even insert pics. Is that Vista?
i downloaded the files train told me and pc froze, rebooted and it would not boot would boot in safe mode so did a system restore and pc would not boot even with xp disc would hang at welcome screen, so iam now reformating that pc will work on the other prob tomorrow
my grandaughter said the professor told her most people couldnt open that file, it was supposed to open to word bit always went to wordpad will let you know after i get this other machine going again
The file was probably corrupt or might contain a virus. Don't try to open it again. Reformatting your computer is a drastic thing to do at this point. A nondestructive repair install from the CD would be in order now.
thanks everyone already reformatted everything is up and running
