How can i watch movies on my analog tv sent from my Laptop ?
In what form are the movies stored on the laptop? What display outputs does the laptop have?
The only output i have is the port that looks like the 1 to a monitor.
As for movies i was watching TV shows on HULU
I thought it would be great to see them on my 32" Sony analog TV in the living room.
My laptop is a Dell Mini 9
OK, if your TV has VGA input, then all you need is a plain old VGA monitor cable for the video, and an audio cable from the headphone out to the TV audio input (you'll probably want a 3.5 jack to 2 x phono for that). If you don't have VGA input on the TV, let us know what ports you do have - there are converters for almost everything, though some are expensive.
My TV only has S Video & Component.
Also is the signal from the Laptop Digital ?
The TV is analog.
The 15-pin VGA is analog. You would need a converter from VGA to composite or S-Video.
Can you reccomend a good quality one.
I don't have one, so someone else will have to chime in for that. The cheaper ones are just for the video, so you'd still be using the laptop speakers unless you plug in some externals.
You will need a converter box then. They will cost you around $80 to $90, by the looks of it, and they get very mixed reviews indeed. They seem to work well for some people and not for others. You probably need to think about whether it is worth going ahead.
This is where TVs with lots of different inputs come into their own - if you don't need a converter then you'll only be out a couple of dollars for a cable.
The easiest way to do this, assuming you are trying to play.AVI files, is buy a cheap up converting DVD player that also has a USB input. Then you can just run a USB cable. I have such a setup and I have an external hard drive plugged directly into my DVD player. My DVD player is a Phillips, not very expensive but very good picture.
