Dell laptop i1545, gets stuck on starup
Hey everyone, one of my friends has a problem with their dell, I tried to figure out what was wrong but I couldn't quite grasp a single thing that caused it, now before I say what's wrong, she did call dell tech support after I looked at it, and they were able to get the computer in safe mode and do a system recovery, right afterwords the computer became slow and froze again. So it sounds like a hardware problem to me?
Ok, so here's what happened from what I've been told, a couple days ago, she wanted to download the google toolbar, and she knew google chrome had it, she went to download that, and shes not sure if the computer froze before or after she hit run after the install file downloaded, but the computer had froze and she just held the power button to turn it off. Upon start up the computer froze at the black screen where the green dot moves across that bar, and it says Microsoft Corporation. She then turned it off and tried to go to safe mode, made it there at one point and did a virus scan, she said it found some high risk viruse threats, after that she tried to get rid of them, didn't know what happened, re did the scan and the viruses were gone. The next day when I came over I looked at it, the black screen before she tries to start the computer says this;
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause
Then it said some other stuff,at that screen she had the option to start windows normally, or do a startup rapair and try to fix it, she did that and it took her back to the same black screen with the Microsoft Corp logo and it would freze there. Then, like I said in the first paragraph,she called dell, that didn't seem to work out, so I came here to ask if anyone knows what's wrong? She didn't a system restore, so I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, RAM or her HDD?
