Blue Screen - inaccessible_boot_drive

Ran into blue screen after I rebooted my system from this issue after running combofix:

Blue screen -
stop 0x0000007B (0XEB82784C, 0XC0000034, 0X000000000, 0X000000000)
inaccessible_boot_drive

I tried rebooting 3 times - same blue screen above.
Also, tried rebooting in safe mode and using last known good configuration - no luck.- same blue screen.

I used the win2k boot floppy I have.
the following message came up:
Win2k could not start up - following file is missing or corrupt:
windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
please re-install a copy of the above file.


I should point out that I pulled the HD out and hooked it up to my laptop to see if I could see the HD. I have 2 partitions: C (o/s & programs) & D ( data) drive both are visible - data has been retrieved.

Any assistance is appreciated?

Have you tried a Repair?

To do so, follow these steps:

1. Start the computer by using the Windows 2000 CD-ROM. (To start your computer from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, your computer's BIOS/CMOS Setup must be configured to start from the CD-ROM drive or DVD drive).
   
   
2. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press [Enter].
   
   
3. Read the license agreement, and then when you are prompted to accept the Windows 2000 licensing agreement, press [F8].
   
   
4. Select your current installation of Windows 2000 (if it is not already selected), and then press [R].

If that doesn't solve the problem, try the following:

1. Start the computer by using the Windows 2000 CD-ROM. (You may have to change your BIOS settings before you can start your computer from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive).
   
   
2. Press [R] to select Repair, and then press [C] to select Recovery Console.
   
   
3. Type the number that represents the Windows 2000 installation that you want to repair, and then when you are prompted to, type the Administrator password. (If there is no password, simply press [Enter]).
   
   
4. Type the following commands at the Drive:\WinNT prompt (where Drive: is the drive, and WinNT is the folder where Windows 2000 is installed), and then press [Enter] after each line:
   cd system32\config
   ren system system.old
   copy C:\WinNT\repair\system
5. Type exit, and then press [Enter].
   
   
6. Restart your computer as you normally do.

yes, I;ve tried:

(2) could not get to 'welcome screen'

alternatively, tried the second option:

(1) using my win2k boot floppy disk,

(2) got to the window where it asks to either start win2k or win2k recovery console. chose the 2nd option here.
The following message came up:

windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

could not go any further.

Is my procedure correct?

Yes, it sounds like you are doing it correctly, but, it appears it is still having a problem with the "ntoskrnl.exe" file.
