GMMAD--Is this something new? You may be overusing multitasking.

The speed of the processor may be too slow and cannot handle all the jobs thrown at it at what seems to be the same time.
Is the download in fact finished eventually and successfully and you just hear breaks during dowload, or is the download not accomplished?

Short of buying a new processor and/or PC, you may have to limit multitasking.

GMMAD--Maybe you have already answered this. The next time you download a fairly large file, just wait and let the download proceed without doing anything else that uses the internet. Do you still you get the connection dropout problem?
If yes, then I would contact your ISP. Maybe they are limiting the amount of downloads permitted.
