[RESOLVED] Unable to delete mdnsNSP.dll

While trying to completely delete iTunes, there is a folder "Bonjour" that contains the file "mdnsNSP.dll" that I cannot delete. Error message is (the ugly) "Access denied". I am logged on as administrator with full permissions for the file "mdnsNSP.dll and it's parent folder, "Bonjour". Strangely, the special permissions box is clear and I cannot change it. Running Win XP Pro with all updates. All other parts of itunes and related files were deleted without any fuss. Any thoughts on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks for looking...

Whoops, forgot to mention the obvious... The file is marked as "Read Only" and I'm unable to clear the check box.

Next time use something like Revo Uninstaller.

Try Unlocker now.

If that doesn't work, try deleting the file in Safe mode.

Couple things you can try:

Right click the 'My Computer' icon and select 'Manage'. Expand 'Shared Folders' and select 'Open Files'. Does the file show up here as being in use?

Also, open Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services and see if there is a Bonjour Service running.

Tropical bound, Manage: nothing in Open Files. Administrative Tools: Bonjour Services is present and disabled in Startup Type. Will attempt to delete in safe mode. If that doesn't work I'll attempt Revo Uninstall and/or Unlocker; and post back of course.

I meant you should have used Revo for the original uninstall. It's too late now. Use Unlocker.

Or,,you can use GipoMoveOnBoot to do it very easily...:)

OK, Unlocker worked for me. Nasty file was deleted. I have re-installed iTunes and everything is working properly. Another great fix by the kind members of Virtualdr. Thanks once again.
