Reinstall Windows 7 on it is the short answer.
Thanks, good tip!
So I don't have to change the SATA cable or designate the new drive as 'Drive 0'?
Nothing like that? It's just going to know which one to boot to?
Yes indeed :)
hmmmm....If you add a drive to a pc that already has a bootable OS - you'll end up with a DUAL BOOT...Have a feeling that isn;t waht your're wanting to do..
Exactly. It gave me a dual boot menu but did not list which installation was on which disk.
I chose the correct one by assuming the latest to be the first in the list. Then I got rid of the other one.
I have what I want now but my boot drive is Disk 2, I would have preferred them lettered and numbered sequentially, C: being Disk 0, D: being Disk 1, and so on.
Not a big deal, I'll just suffer for the rest of my life. :D
C: being Disk 0, D: being Disk 1
Switch the connectors on the mobo. Should take care of that I believe.
You will never get Windows to do that. I don't know why it feels the need to randomly order the drives, but it does :( On my latest build, I very carefully made sure that the Windows drives was plugged into SATA port 0, but it still ended up as drive 2 in Disk Management. It was the same in XP and Vista too. If you ever reinstall Windows, you'll find that the drives and drive letters are all over the place again.
