[RESOLVED] Installing Windows 7 Home Premium

I'm getting everything ready to install Windows 7 on my step-daughters Dell e521 desktop. I've ordered the RAM upgrade(Crucial 2GB kit) but I have one question. How do I do a clean install using the upgrade version of Win 7 Home Premium? The reason for the clean install is because Vista is completely hosed. I'm able to boot into Vista, but with errors. (system registry file missing or corrupt) and because it's a Dell with the recovery partition there were no system disks supplied with this computer. It's also out of warranty, so no help from Dell. Thanks.

Short answer-> Install Win7 and DO NOT enter the keycode...Install it again - enter keycode.

You shouldn't need to jump through those hoops though, all you need to do is boot up with he Win7 DVD in the drive, and it will recognise Vista as the qualifying OS, but you still get the option of a clean install. Just click on "Custom installation" during Setup.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try after the memory arrives. I checked out Newegg and they had the full version for $106.00 USD. So, I bought one for me. :) I Wish she had waited before she bought the upgrade version from Walmart. I ask her if she could take it back, she said no, besides it was the only one in the store. Oh well, hopefully I'll get this installed for her and everything will sort out OK.
