Do the "Acer" splash screen and menu also have the blue tint?
If they do, the fault is in either the LCD panel, the LVDS cable connection between the panel and I/O board, or the I/O board itself. If only the source signal shows the tint, the fault is in the I/O board (including the VGA 15-pin socket contacts) or the VGA cable.
Hi Platypus
thanks for the reply
This tint is from boot up,but if I hit the Auto adjust it will briefly clear up only about a second but it will do this if I keep pushing the auto button but it doesn't hold. Not being familiar with the internal working I need guidenance is this something I could fix myself and what would I need.
Thanks again
If you feel confident to open the casing, and you recognise electrical requirements like not having the unit powered and keeping yourself reasonably consistently in contact with the metal chassis to avoid electrostatic discharge, you would be able to check the LVDS cable connection.
The I/O (Input/Output) board:

has the connector shown at the top, and the wide flat loom which plugs into it carries the LVDS signal to the LCD panel. A poor contact at either end can cause various symptoms, including ones like this. The long black latch piece is flipped up to release the loom, and there is usually a push plug at the LCD panel which is probably released using a little lever at each end which gets pressed inwards when you grasp the plug. Nothing should be forcibly handled.
If an LVDS connector is the source of a problem, removing and reconnecting will frequently clear it up, simply due to the fresh connection. The contact pads at either end of the flat loom can be wiped clean with a pure alcohol if you wish.
If this fixed it, you'd be OK. But from your description, I wonder if the problem isn't more likely to be a failure in the I/O board, whereby the settings are failing to be retained in the Flash RAM. If service support from Acer is as non-existent there as it is here, it might be difficult to do much with that, and maybe not economic for a 17" monitor.
good morning Platypus
Thanks for your excellent advise I will do as you suggested and see what happens.
if nothing a least I've gained some knowledge.will keep you posted
Again thanks
Try another cable as well, if you haven't done so already.
