Power Options Problem…..My PC has other plans
I’m running Vista Ultimate x64 and XP Pro x32 on a new X58 Intel Desktop with a RAID array using 2) Western Digital Raptor hard drives:
--One at 150 GB (the XP drive)
--The other is a newer Velociraptor at 300 GB (the Vista Drive and the problematic one, I should add)
As fast as this machine is, the scans still can take several hours and I’d like to be able to start em, set the Kaspersky Full Scan and/or Object scan to shut down when completed…..hopefully when I’m asleep.
This is not working worth spit and as far as I know……never has.
There have even been occasions after we repaired Vista here on another thread, that I know the machine was turned off, I woke up at around 3:00 AM to take care of business, and it’s on.
It’s kinda like the attack of the machines
No matter what time frame I set my hard drives to shut down, same with my monitor…..I can easily come back several hours later, and the scans didn’t complete because the HD had shut down and the monitor goes to sleep mode (I think) after about 45 minutes.
I have several cases I could conceivably use with Microsoft, thought I would check virtualdr before I use one.
There’s a world of expertise right here, and I might even get a chuckle along the way.
:)
Thanks for any suggestions…….as usual.

I think wake on lan *is* the issue here Train
This is not my forte' Train or anyone else who spots this and cares to join in.
I have been all over the BIOS on this Asus Rampage and I'll be dammed if I can find that buddy.
If I looking for love in all the wrong places ..... again, give me a hint on where I might find that if you find a sec, would you Please?
The fellow who did the BIOS for me on this build is gone for the weekend or I'd ask him.
As I recall in a phone conversation, he mentioned that too.
If I need to run a case with Asus I can do that.
I've worn out the google key and searched all over the knowledge base on this Asus mobo.
The buzz word seems to be: WOL, when searching.
What seems so simple to other people really baffles this guy in the BIOS.
I can't chance turning this danged DSL modem off.
At least 40% of the time when I've done that, something needs to be reset, and that takes an hour or better and being treated like some small child.
