Copernic Desktop

I just bought my first external hard drive. I read that copernic desktop search is a good program to use. Does anyone know if it is worth using? I went to www.download.com to download the program. I use win 2k and it said that it is win 2k compatible. When I went to install it, it said that it needed xp or higher. I ignored that message and installed it anyway. I guess it isn't win 2k compatible like it states in download.com because when I tried to search for a file, nothing came up. I would like any feedback on whether this program is good to use and whether it is win 2k compatible.

Copernic can search for text insode most types of files. It has to index the files on your hard drive first though, before you will get any results. Previous versions did work on Win2K, I haven't checked on the current version.

If earlier versions of copernic do work with win 2k and I can use it, which one is the better program to use: copernic or the one Broni suggested (superfinder)? Since I never used any of these type of programs before, are they better to use then just the search for files and folders that windows provides?

Super finder beats windows search hands down.
But I do not seach into doc's.
I suggest giving each a shot and let us know what you think.

If you are just searching for file names, Super Finder is probably better since it probably consumes less resources. If you want to search for text inside of all files that have text, then Copernic would probably be better. I don't know if Super Finder has that capability, or, if it does, how many types of files it can search the contents of.

The latest version of Copernic is no longer compatible with Win 2k. :(
Too bad as it's a great program. We use the Pro version at work and it has saved a lot of time...

I have no clue, because I never used it for text search.

From the info available in Super Finders data web page, it appears the it will search for text in any file, although if the file has compressed or encoded text, nothing will be found. Also, it doesn't appear to index all of the files on the accessible drives for faster search results like Copernic does.
