MCSE 2003 VS MCITP

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a quandry - I am getting ready to pursue a certification, but wanted to take one that won't magically go away during the next year or so while I'm working on it. I wondered if it's better at this point and time [aka 2009] to pursue my MCSE 2003, or just bail on the thing entirely and get an enterprise administrator cert for the MCITP <?> what would be better at this point ? or would it just be better to bail on it entirely and go for the red hat linux certs at this point ? I want to make my few hard earned dollars count.:(

IMHO, I'd start with the oldest certification available first. You can always advance to the newer certifications later, but you can't always go back to get the older certifications.

good question. It all depends on your current workplace.

the MCSE will give you a good foundation for all things Windows. with the general networking (DNS, DHCP, AD) tools that goes with it. It practise it is recognised more by industry as they are familiar with it.

Once you've gained a few months of real world usage, you can then sart looking at the additional ability of server 2008. Virtualisation, security, etc.

that way you hve the highly recognised MCSE, and you will have "working towatds MCITP" on your CV. That way scanners pick up both accronyms, and interviews come your way:)
