NOD32 version update to V4
The thread title says it - NOD32 has a version update to V4. Previous versions have to be uninstalled first (for instructions see here) before installing the new version. Although uninstallation went smoothly for me on one machine, I ran into problems on two others and I discovered that the instructions linked above didn't cover the issues I encountered. Help from both ESET's tech support staff and their user forum was excellent here, and I pass on the following two additions to the uninstall instructions -
- deleting the \ESET\NOD32 folder from Program Files will only work in Safe Mode, since the kernel exectuable ekrn.exe is otherwise locked
- a further Registry reference has to be deleted: run a Registry search on "eav_nt32" (without the quotes) and delete the whole key.
Re-boot before installing V4.
