standby pulsing

Hi to all. First time here, and think it's a nice fit with comptuers, etc. Have a year old Philips 37". Now geting a standby pulse, in red, featuring one long and four short pulses repeated in sequence. System does not power up with either the onboard power switch or remove device. Tried all suggestions, not too many availablle, and nothing, nothing, nothing, except a retun to the pusling. When power first applied, the green on light attempts to kick in, but in four to five seconds gives way to the red standby pulsing sequence. Help, please! Jim S

Philips 37". Is that a monitor or TV? What model? Have you gone to the Phillips site to see about FAQS?

Post the make and model of the motherboard. Or even the BIOS make and version would help out.

That is a BIOS beep code and that should tell us what is wrong.
If it is a home built/custom computer, it should be listed in the mobo manual.

On the 2nd reading, I think you are talking about the TV itself. :(

Very sorry: It's a Philips 37", Model: 27PF7320A\37. S/N: A1A608006566, made in Mexico. When responding to either remote on onboard power button the system will attempt to come on flashing a green light, about four seconds; then there's a distinct click, (like something is being turned off), and then the flashing sequence starts. Again, thanks Jim S PS Been to Philips site. No help at all, no forums, just a nice thanks, you're out of warranty, and call a repairman. That's all she wrote. At one net site it was noted that this model set, made in China, was "poorly manufactured." So, I'm expecting the worst though there was no indication of impending trouble.

The advice that it will have to go for service is correct. The suggestion that it is poorly made may also be correct. The error code gives some degree of information to a Philips repairer about the possible cause of fault. But Philips designs typically have complex interaction between the microprocessor control functions of circuit boards, and I've seen them in our workshop end up being seemingly the least likely of 3 possible boards that was the eventual culprit...

That's messy enough in warranty, but out of warranty, in a situation like that one you'd have to quote for 3 boards, on the basis that you don't know which of any possible combination is actually faulty, one or more.

Dr. THat's correct. Tried all the suggested fixes at Philips and one or two other sites. No luck! Hope it's not too serious, as the unit is only a little over a year old. BUT, then.....Much thanks. Jim S

Hi: Had a repairman do an onsite, and cost of repair would exceed new video. Junked and got a new set. After Googling, etc., it turns out that model tv was sole by Philips to a Chinese compamy or was made by same and was evaluated as junk. Philips has traumatized me! Too bad nothing is made in America nowadays. Don't struggle, get a new one. j
