I am having problems with my e-mail.
I keep getting duplicates as if I ahd never received them and I keep getting letters from e-mail services saying that they can't send me stuff.
I checked with my ISP and they claim it is not their fault.
Does this sound like a problem with my e-mail program or is it a problem with my ISP no matter what they say?
It might be your settings. What info did they give you for POP and SMTP server information to put in your email program? Or is it an IMAP server?

Dr Seven, my friend experienced a similar problem like you described. It turned out that she had the kak.worm on her pc. Have you run your av?
Dr Seven could just be the mail server. I too often notice this problem and I know that there are no worms/viruses on my system. Also I know my settings are proper.
I'm not saying to rule out worms/viruses, but it just may be your server going through some kind of upgrade as mine is doing now.

I think it IS my server. They were under going an upgrade recently and I know my settings are correct.
I have a POP server. Is this significant?
And I have run my anti-virus.
Thanks for the answers. If anyone else knows of something that wasn't mentioned here, I would appreciate hearing about that.
I'm not sure but if you have your POP and SMTP addresses right then there should be no probs, unless you have a virus.

Would a virus cause duplicate e-mails on a sporadic basis? Remember, this doesn't happen all the time. Just at odd moments.

Are you getting Duplicates of Hotmail messages through Outlook Express?

I don't use oe anymore, but there's a setting to not store mail on the server. Maybe you have it set to store mail?

1. Open Netscape Messenger> Edit> Preferences
2. In the left pane, click + of Mail & Newsgroups> Mail Servers
3. In the right pane, clickEdit button
4. In Mail Server Properties dialog box, click on POP
5.UncheckLeave messages on server
6. Click OK
See if a Server was keeping messages and when you download a new message downloading the old one too thus duplicating.

I use NS mail and have mine set as per downtime's tip and at times I will have the same problem as Dr Seven has. I still think it is a server problem.Quote:
