Since I am beginning to see the light, I started uninstalling redundant spy-, mal-, and antivirus software on my XP Pro SP3 machine. After uninstalling Spyware Blaster, I found a folder in Programs with the following contents:
hostsbak0.bak
hostsbak1.bak
hostsbak2.bak
hostsbak3.bak
hostsbak4.bak
hostsbak5.bak
hostsbak6.bak
hosttssafe.sss
ssave0.sss to ssave15.sss
sslist.sss
'can I delete these files or what?

Yes you can delete them.
Just FYI the proper way to uninstall spyware blaster is to first run it and disable all protection for all browsers, then uninstall it. Otherwise the lists of protected items remain in the registry.
Why did you decide to uninstall spywareblaster? It's one of the better ones and is a passive program, meaning it won't interfere with any others.
Ditto - I use that one on all the computers we own, and put it on customers' computers as well.
Curious what you call the wasteland up there - $5 says it's Fitchburg.:D

Actually, expecting a consensus on which town in MA is the most lame is impossible. Lawrence, Holyoke, Malden, Leominster, Fall River, the list goes on. SpywareBlaster is, and has been for many moons,one of my most trusted programs. Keep in mind,it's entries keep all the nasties in it's list from getting on your PC in the first place.
But as said,if you want to remove a program,but are not sure just how to do it. Ask first. Where? One of the best places would be right here...:)
Those are the main active programs often recommended here and other places but spywareblaster is usually included in the list of programs to use/keep.Quote:
