no viruses now. need help with XP loading

First thanks to those who helped rid my pc of viruses! Now though my problem is still trying to get xp to load normally. I can get into safe mode but depending on the pc's mood it might load in "safe mode" or it might load "last good startup" each time i have to restart i have choose a different one till i get one that loads all the way up. but it will not just load . when i try to let it it will get to the xp screen and just sit there. when it does finally move on it goes black and then restarts itself..
