Popups in MSIE 7.0
I recently cleaned up my system with the great help of Broni. Thank you again :)
I made a few changes during the process beginning with completely removing Zone Alarm Internet Security, adding Avast for AV and Comodo for firewall, and also ran all updates for Windows (it had been years on that one!) and now am using MSIE 7.0. I've had no problems at all except that the popups are driving me crazy! I dont know if Zone Alarm was catching them before or if its the new version of MSIE causing it? Any suggestions on a separate program that would stop them? I never had this problem before. Thanks!

Amazingly there are no popups at the same sites through Firefox! I just forget to use it. Old habits die hard so I would still love any suggestions for MSIE? Thanks again :)

What kind of popups are those? Nasty ones?

hi Broni :)
No, mostly things like "orbitz" (from several news sites), windows screen savers, things like that. I dont pay much attention to them; they just annoy me and it seems like it all started with 7.0. I very rarely if ever got them before. And I remember in the windows updates, it mentioned improved disabling of popups and it wasnt a problem before. Again, nothing with Firefox. I added it to my quicklinks so I'll just get in the habit of using it rather than clicking on the easy big "e". I mostly use internet for email, hotmail, different news sites and am guilty of occassional shopping.. ok more than occassional :)

Also, they dont come up all over the place or anything like that. I guess I shouldnt complain, its usually one at a time when I go to a new site and if I right click to close it usually doesnt come back. They arent perverted or porn type popups.

Next time, you got one, please post a link to that web site.

ok, in MSIE just got the orbitz one at www.cnn.com
I dont get it in Firefox. Just seems I should be able to block them in MSIE also.

In IE, Tools>Pop-up blocker...is it on?
I'm not getting Orbitz pop-up in my IE7.

Yes, its turned on. I just got it 3 out of 4 times with a fresh open of MSIE. This time it was netflix. Another common one.

I'll check for more Windows updates in the morning when I can keep my eyes open. In the meantime I am really liking Firefox :) Thanks for your help!

I can see Netflix, but not as a pop-up:
