They will buy it and kill it.
Oooo, that means, my ThreatFire will have to go, as soon, as Norton touches it.
I hope that for once you are wrong on this Broni. My only experience with software of similar function to Threatfire was Prevex. That became so intrusive, and unable to learn that I discontinued a paid version of it after about a year's use.
Maybe current versions of Prevex are better.
ThreatFire caused me some problems in the past:
1. Problems when installing AVG, when I still wanted to install it.
2. To install any Firefox add-on, I have to disable TF, or it won't install. It took me a while to discover this issue.
But overall, I can't complain, it's intrusive.
That's a shame. They took the first, good software firewall, AtGuard, and ruined that very quickly... and that ongoing process of buying good software programs and turning them into Symantec bloatware continues.
My fear is the same as Broni's. I like ThreatFire and had hopes that it would continue to improve. It's a rare thing for a HIPS/behavior monitoring program to run as well as TF does and not require more user intervention. Now, who knows? :(
It's sad to say but innovation at Symantec is dead and has been for some time. They bought and killed/absorbed AtGuard, Sygate, and PowerQuest. Their behavior monitoring app is Antibot... licensed from Sana Security (apparently, they weren't for sale.)Quote:

I assume I'll have a bit of time before Symantec monkeys with TF's code. I've started the hunt for a new app to replace TF. Hopefully, there are some out there that come close...
Make sure, you share, if you'll find something :)
Another decent product about to be rendered useless.
