JPEG ICONS CHANGED
Hello All, I have installed the trial version of Nikon Capture NX. Since then all of my JPEG icons have changed to the Captue NX Icon. I was able to have them open with Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
I want to have all of my JPEG icons go back to the default icon for Picture Manager. Once I un-install Capture NX I want things back the way they were.
I would appreciate a detailed explanation.
Thanks for your help.

You faild to pay attention to the file assocciation when you installed Capture NX. Gots to make sure what we are doing at that point or we get what happened to you.
Right click a jpg and select OPEN with
Select what program you waqnt to open them.
MAKE SURE the check is in the Always use the selected program box.
Now you should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. I have already performed this task, however the icons are still NX. I have it set to open with Picture Manager.
I am not home now and cannot check until Monday.
Thanks again

How to change which program starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP

With graphic, I usually go to view and select thumbnails so I can select the picture i want the first time. That gets rid of all the icons too.

This is how I do it. Go to My Computer, and open it, then click on Tools>Folder Options>File Types, now scroll down until you find JPEG in the list, click on that then at he bottom you'll see the option "open with" then a button that says Change. Click that and point it (browse) to the program you want all jpegs to open with. Click apply and ok out. Once you've done this all jpegs will show up and open with the program of your choice.

There is a menu for doing some of that.
Set Program Access and Defaults.
You might want to try it and see.
Left click Start
Mine is under Control Panel Option, on the right side of the menu

Restart computer in Safe Mode. Restart in Normal Mode. That will reset IconsCache.
