Hi
With so many encryption softwares around, I need some advice as to which would be the top "FILE' encryption software - ease of use also !
Which Operating System and have you considered using the version built into Windows?
I have win xp home and didnt know that it has built in encryption tool - what is that tool pls ?
Take a peek in Windows Help file;)
OK, I encrypted the file and it has "greened". I was thinking that when you encrypt a file it is not accessible till you decrypt it with the same password. But, upon clicking that encrypted pdf file it opens ??
If I understand (and I may not! :D ) the Windows file encryption correctly, if you are logged in as the user that created the encrypted file/folder, it's not encrypted for that user.
I wanted to use encryption programs that were independent of Windows. The encryption programs I use are:
For container type (aka "on the fly") I use 2 programs
TrueCrypt http://www.truecrypt.org/
FreeOTFE http://www.freeotfe.org/
For single files or folders, I use 2 programs
AxCrypt http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/
EncryptOnClick http://www.2brightsparks.com/onclick/eoc.html
Depending on what my needs are, I use all 4 at varying times. (They are all freeware too!)
IN that case, I need a standalone professional software.Quote:
