Outlook 2003 : Rules question

I was wondering if there was any way that you could create an outlook rule that would (apon satisfying the rule) move that message onto a drive.

I get these messages that i want to archive, but i dont want to create an outlook folder, and would like them to be moved into a widows folder (like if you were to drag a message from outlook).

also - i was told that these emails will become 'unstable' after a while ... is there any truth to that?

Have you looked through the Rules functions to see what you can do/can't do?

"Unstable"? If they are just .eml files, then no, they are not radioactive. They are just text files.

You used to be able to do this, that is until MS brought out Office XP/2003 with new security features that prevented you having a system (explorer) folder within your toolbars (very handy for dragging/dropping emails into). If that feature were still available, you would have been able to direct satisfying emails to an 'external' folder outside of outlook, but alas no more.

I amongst many others requested this feature be returned. but do MS listen?

i wonder what security rationale they used for removing it

as far as the 'unstable' goes ... one of the exchange admins that i talked to said that the mails would become unstable after a period of time; i had no idea what they were talking about ... but since they control my mailbox ... i just thank them ... leave my offereings and slowly and carefully back out of the room

Another way to do this would be to use Visual Basic - create a rule that fires off the VB script to store said messages into specific folders.
