Anybody want to recommend one they've used? I'm aware of the two top options, Digital video essentials, which by most accounts is extremely complex and poorly laid out for the novice, and Avia which is much more user friendly, reportedly.

Haven't used either but after reading through much of the following, it might be worth it to get them both.

Although it's not the newest test DVD on the block, Avia is arguably the most complete.

well, I have the avia disc. Save your money.
That bad eh?
What about DVE? Have you tried it yet?
I wouldn't call it completely useless, but close enough. I haven't tried the other one yet, and I probably won't. It took me weeks but I'm finally satisfied with the settings as they are. I've stopped tweaking, probably moments before my friends and family were about to try and get me into a 12 step program "tweakers anonymous" or something like that.
