When reinstalling XP is it neccessary to reinstall the drivers that came with the MB?........
Yes. You also need to install any service packs that aren't on the XP CD you're using, your video card drivers (if you have a separate card), and reinstall any third-party programs you want to continue using that you had on your old install.
Many people find slipstreaming all this stuff with an XP install CD saves a lot of time when they have to reinstall. Something to keep in mind.
I ask because I've noticed sites giving detail in reinstallation never mentioning the MB/CD......... This disk is used after the OS is installed? Thanks
That's correct, after XP is installed. Tip: Install the chipset drivers first, then do the graphics drivers, then finish up with the balance of the motherboard drivers/utilities on the CD.
Install OS.
Install Service packs needed
Install mobo drivers
Last, install video drivers. If not onboard.
Now install AV and firewall if you have one, then go get the updates.
