For about 5 years now we have had a Lexmark X73 connected. All of a sudden it started having problems. We first noticed the problem when we attempted to print a map from Mapquest. Instead of printing a map, it printed several pages of "computer language." I contacted Lexmark. They instructed me to completely remove it from my computer and then reinstall. When I attempt to install, as it is going through the process, the computer shuts down; then restarts. Any ideas on what to do next?

try uninstalling the software and reboot. before plugging in the printer reinstall the software first and follow the manufacturers directions to install.
if the drivers are already installed the installation should work.
also check to see if your windows xp is up to date.
