New PC no internet
I built a new PC here at home. Vista buisness x64. ON my home network it connected to lan and internet straight away useing a network cable. I disconnected the network cable and then installed a wireless network card.
It to connected to lan and internet.
Took the pc to the office this morning and it connected to the lan ok (wireless) but wont connect to internet. I connected a network cable and same thing. Lan but no internet.
I connected a notebook to the network cable and it got lan and internet.
I activated its wireless connection and it got lan and internet. Back to the new pc, lan and no internet.,
Why?

I think i have narrowed down the why but not how to fix.
I took the pc back home and it connected to lan and internet.
At home i use dlink router and wireless access point. The pc has dlink wireless pci card.
Back to the office and it still wouldnt connect to the internet.
The router in the office is belkin.
I presume they have different ip ranges.
And i hope this is the cause.
So can someone confirm that is nmay be the ip range

Hi Anne, maybe the DHCP is not enabled on the belkin, you could try cmd and at the prompt type ipconfig /all will tell you.

The pc is finding files on the network server and other computers.
Just no internet

Looks like the IT have set permission as to what machine can hit the internet is my thought.

You are dead right. No matter what i did internet would not connect.
So i had the office owner call his IT guy who came over and in 30seconds flat opened DOS typed a comand and instant internet.
