Anyone out there know how to convert a white background in an existing image to a transparent background using Photoshop or similar?
Problem solved - add transparent layer below original layer, select and delete white background then (the important bit) save as PNG format. Save as GIF works only if you have a more recent version of PS where there is an option to save transparency. PS6, which I use, doesn't have this option - but PNG does the trick.

I was booted into WinXP at the time of my original post, and I don't have GIMP installed there. Must go and try re-running the problem on Linux ...Quote:
