Outlook 2000 to Mozilla Thunderbird

I have saved a .pst fie on a flash drive from Outlook 2000 on an old computer.
I am now going to use Mozilla Thunderbird for my emails. I tried to import the pst file which I had saved to the desk top but I could not import it. Is there a way I can do this?
