Ok...I have XP Home that I purchased...have had it on my machine for a few years I guess....I recently took the plunge to Vista.
Can I take my XP Home that was activated on my machine and now install it on the new machine I built for my daughter?

Yes, but you have to call MS Licensing Service and give them old key. Tell them you upgraded your PC and need to reactivate your license. They'll give you a new key. This is for XP, for Vista I don't think they have the same policy.
Yes you can, as long it is not OEM. Then it is branded to that mobo.
Definitely not an OEM Jim.....it is a full blown copy of XP Home all nice with the shiny logo and all :-)
This is what I thought....just wanted to make sure before I go through the trouble of installing....have had to call that licensing line before when doing a reinstall on the same computer due to some stupidity on my part....cant hardly understand those guys who answer the phone at Mickeysoft.
You shouldn't even have to call, the activation servers are reset every 120 days with XP, so you ought to be able to activate online in the normal fashion :)
Your Welcoms Steve, and what SS posted should apply unless it has been less that 120 days.
