EDIT: Can't embed it, it's too big!
Some nice features though, figured they may be short on ideas.

But what is Windows 7?
Vista's replacement...the next Windows OS....codename: Vienna.

I guess they didn't take to my suggestion that it should research and type a Master's thesis automatically....
I love this explanation of the codename:Quote:

Of course, amazingly, it also fits with the concept of little stubby weiners....lol. Finally, an OS we can really get our teeth into....lmaoo :D
And then there's this:
"and are often the targets of security exploits. The best way to avoid such problems, is to start from scratch, which is close to what Microsoft plans to do with Windows Vienna. Windows Vienna will represent the start of a different generation of operating systems, bringing in new concepts and support for new types of hardware, along with a better security and a modular approach, which will allow future versions of Windows to be built more easily on Windows Vienna's engine."
This is exactly what they were saying about Longhorn 2 or 3 years ago. It's darn near a word for word repeat of the Longhorn hype we endured, telling us of the new (now long forgotten) file system, etc, etc, etc.
I can see it now, we just went from a 3 Gig XP install to a 15 Gig Vista install, any guesses on the Vienna Weiner install size? I don't think 75 Gigs is out of line for a prediction. :p
And what about RAM? What's it gonna take to run that monster down the road? 8? 12? 16 Gigs?
Edit: :D
I can see 8gb being about normal, but it is possible now to go 8gb for about £140....DDR3 it would be closer to 10x that.
The rumour mill was a kernel shrink for vienna, and they were hoping to get the install down to around XP sized, while maintaining the better security and modular approach. :D

but 7.....the way I count it would be version 8 or 9 if you count the Millenium Edition.
3.Windows 3 and 3.1 for workgroups
4.Windows 95
5.Windows 98
6.Windows ME
7.Windows XP
8.Windows Vista
I think we all vowed NOT to count the Mellenium Edition awhile back, didn't we?? :D That wasn't a "version"...that was a disaster. :D That would make Vista #7, so matbe someone at Redmond does NOT know how to use Calculator. Bill Gates is so used to counting in the billions that he forgot the numbers one through ten.
The numbering is based on the Windows NT line of OSs, the DOS based versions are not included:
NT 3.1
NT 4
Win 2000 = NT 5
Win XP = NT 5.1
Win Vista = NT 6
Win Vienna = NT 7
ahhh thanks Sparky.....now we know...and knowing is half the battle....
