I know this has come up before but is there anyway long standing members can have longer to edit their posts. So often I look back at something and I feel that I didn't explain very well and I would like the chance to correct.

AFAIK, there is but one general forum-wide setting for controlling the "Time Limit on Editing of Posts".
Admin Control Panel > vBulletin Options > Message Posting and Editing Options > Time Limit on Editing of PostsQuote:
Time limit (in minutes) to impose on editing of messages. After
this time limit only moderators will be able edit or delete the
message. 1 day is 1440 minutes.
[ 60 ]
Set the value to 0 to allow users to edit their posts indefinitely.
doc is correct, there is only a global setting. There is no setting based on user group or posts totals. Sorry
Thanks, anyway.
The only way to do it would be to deny new users edit rights altogether, which doesn't seem quite fair.
Ok, they why isn't this done to let anyone edit their posts days, or weeks later as the example the OP made??
I have a current thread that the title got changed when I clicked the "2k" choice somewhere in the new thread box.
Now it only says "2k" for the thread title which makes no sense;

Would a mod please change it back to;
"Recomendations for MB, processor, memory & video upgrade"
Thanks.
The chance to edit was changed due to problems with some older members deleting all their posts. Administrators decided to change that option.
And you could never change the title, only the post words.
Looks like someone changed your thread title, videobruce.
If I remember correctly, I went back to edit the post and saw the choice for the O/S and clicked it. Then the title was changed.
I never encountered this before anywhere as I post in various forms all the time (probably to many times.........).
Thanks for changing it back.
You never could edit the thread title in any case, Vbulletin only allows moderators and admins to do that.
As Photolady says, we had a couple of unfortunate instances of long term members throwing their toys out of the pram (andf to this day we don't know what they were upset about), and deleting all their posts. In one case it ruined several thousand threads, which are a valuable archive. A classic case of the few spoiling things for the many, unfortunately :(
I have no problem with all of that. I do understand. It was just 'weird' what happened here.
We've had even more instances of users who, once they get the answers they want, want their posts removed so they don't turn up in search engines. Nevermind that others searching for similar answers are left high and dry. So that's one of the main reasons we've had to do this also. The forum is also a searchable knowledgebase, and if we allow people to edit out their posts, it ceases to be that.
