[RESOLVED] Upgraded board..but no monitor response
I upgraded my daughter's A7A133 socket "A board to an Asus A7N8-X board. I was able to get to Bios and look things over...change a few settings to match what I had...change boot order to cd-rom 1st so I could boot to the xp pro cd and re-install xp pro which was on the hdd. I re-booted a couple of more times...not sure exactly why at this point...and then the next boot the system wouldn't come up on the monitor. I pulled the cmos battery...no luck...checked all connections...all good & tight...tried a different vid card...no luck. I noticed that the hdd light briefly comes on and then goes off at boot but it is working...I can feel the warmth underneath the hdd. Oh...and the floppy doesn't light up & blink at boot...but it did initially.
Well...I thought that maybe the board was bad so I had an NF7-S board and started over with it and the same thing happens. The floppy doesn't come on and the hdd gives a brief blink on the front led...and no monitor.
I took the hdd and hooked it up to my own system and it works just fine...took the floppy and hooked it up to mine and it's working...but when I put them back in the other case...same thing as before... I switched psu's...no luck.
I'm scratching my head on this one....
It's got to be something simple...hopefully... .
I haven't tried going back to the original board and hooking everything back up to see if it's all working...which it was...and working just fine...except for the floppy...which worked until I updated the bios ( I used the floppy to do the update...then wouldn't work after update). The A7A133 uses just pc133 ram and these other boards use at least pc2700...the NF7-S can use up to pc3200..so I was wanting to upgrade for that reason and to also have the floppy available.
It's late...I'm going to bed...maybe the answer will come to me in a dream...:p .
