linksys wap54g range extender WPA enterprise

Ok so I read this and I have a wap54g I want to use as a range extender.

The last step is lacking in details I think, If I want wpa to be setup, I guess I have to use wpa enterprise on the router and the wap54g in order for the wap54g to authenticate onto the wireless router network to extend it?

What are the exact settings I would have to setup?

I tried setting it up with wpa enterprise and I made up a pass phrase and for the radius sever I put 192.168.1.1 and I setup the wap54g the exact same way. That did not work.

It failed to validate the client when I tried to join the wireless network. Do you even have to put a radius server or just leave it all 0's? Do I need to cinfigure Wpa enterprise the exact same way on both router and wireless access point or do you configure them differently?

The ips have to be different.
192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 are example of what will work.

Thanks for replying train, I know that you are busy but what do you mean they have to be different?

My router Ip is 192.168.1.1 and the linksys wap54g has an ip of 192.168.1.245 so on the router what would I put for the radius server IP?

In the instructions it says to use WPA enterprise which requires you to put a Radius server IP in.

For the wap54g what would I put for the security? Would I set the security to to WPA enterprise like the router or something different? If I should use wpa enterprise then what should I put for the radius server for that?

Turn the dhcp off in the wireless and let the router assign the IP addresses.

With both active, from my understanding, things can get messed ip.

WPA is all that I have ever set up and that was about 2 years ago. Hopefully someone with wireless knowledge will post.

Ok, well I tried setting it up like that link I posted said I thought it shold work but I think I'm missing something. It does not seem like the wap54g will join the wireless network and extend it unless the ethernet is plugged into it.

Maybe I'm missing something but it just does not seem to be working.

I am even trying it with no security to see if it will be able to extend it wirelessly and it is not.
