Nvidia update
For those running Nvidia powered video cards. Just wanted to let you know a new driver release is out as of May31st. Might want to cruise over and have a look at Forceware Release 90
These are for the GeForce 7 cards, but a May 17th release is available for the GeForce 8 series also.
-
Thanks for the update but it seems those of us with older GPU's, a GeForce FX 5200 in my case, are left out from now on. Cards in the 5000 series on down are no longer supported with the new ForceWare releases.

Yep your correct. Seems Nvidia has dropped support for the FX series. No official update on that. But there are no drivers for Vista and aren't supported by current force ware releases. But I think they are still supported on current linux driver updates. But I could be wrong on that.

According to this link:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
there are drivers for the FX series and up for both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista among other OS's
-
Correct, but the drivers for Vista are only beta and aren't stable at all. And the drivers for XP and Windows 2000 are old. The FX series are no longer supported by any new drivers for XP/2000 or Vista.

guess you'll have to stick with the older version....I never change unless there is an obvious need or requirement for updating...............don't "fix" what isn't broke..........

Where does it say that the FX drivers for Vista are beta?
-
They aren't officially beta. But they are of beta quality. TV-Out barely works, Open GL dosen't work, and I've had nurmores crashes do them. And the performance is a joke. And those are the only drivers the FX series will ever see for Vista. Thats what the Nvidia customer service told me any how.
