Getting drivers from the manufacturer is usually a “good thing.”;)

I agree, the hardware maker's site should always be the first place to look for any driver. Only go elsewhere if you can't find what you need there, and then take a great deal of care over what you are installing. There are plenty of dodgy hacked drivers floating around on the web :(

I usually update my drivers disk (burn a new one) with the latest drivers on it. I work with several computers, and just make sure I have the lastest drivers - never know when you need them.
