Yes, it is gone from Vista. In theory Vista silently replaces corrupt system files, AFAIK, and so shouldn't need SFC. Only time will tell on that one.

Well, I stand corrected. Apparently it is still there, despite having read that it had been removed. It looks like there is a lot to learn about what's been left in, removed or changed.
